- The Illinois Entrepreneurship Network (IEN) is a
comprehensive network of resources designed to
strengthen the state's capacity to develop small
businesses into market successes and help
entrepreneurship act as a more dynamic engine of
growth.
- Within the Illinois Entrepreneurship Network
there are 17 Entrepreneurship Centers statewide
which specialize in assisting companies with high
growth potential. Entrepreneurship Centers
accelerate entrepreneurial ventures by helping
innovative small businesses connect with funding
opportunities, patents and product licensing and
marketing strategies. Through the e-centers small
businesses are eligible to receive $5,000 challenge
grants designed to accelerate their business growth
and achieve critical milestones.
- The IEN also offers commercialization assistance
through its
Illinois Technology Enterprise Centers (ITEC).
The ITECs offer management assistance/coaching
programs that help entrepreneurs and early stage
companies develop clear paths to technology
commercialization. The regional centers help
entrepreneurs locate early stage financing, improve
technical and/or managerial skills, offer
introductions to sources of private equity and
assist with new product development and marketing.
