The University Park at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is dedicated to providing growing companies in the St. Louis area with the powerful resources to succeed regionally, nationally and globally. With space available for biotechnology, health sciences, information technology, and design businesses; the park provides the high bandwidth and fast data transfers (via fiber optics) to support the most advanced technological companies. Businesses gain direct access to the International Trade Center at SIUE, one of six global trade centers in the state, and the University’s experienced faculty and skilled student workers. The Park is also home to the National Corn-to-Ethanol Research Center; the only pilot facility in the world fully emulating a wet mill and dry-grind commercial fuel ethanol production plant, soon to expand to corn fractionation. The American Red Cross also plans a major blood processing center and national testing laboratory. The Biotechnology Laboratory Incubator (BLI) is in University Park. The $1.6 million, 11,076 square foot research facility was funded by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, and houses biology, chemistry, geographic information systems, and pharmacy laboratories.
