9|24|2009 Central Illinois Angels
A group of community individuals has organized an investment group that will invest in new companies in the Peoria area and beyond. Central Illinois Angels is a formalized group for individuals looking to make investments in regional startups and growing businesses. The organization consists of accredited investors who are willing to work together to generate value for the company, the economy, and themselves.
Although the economy is currently in a downturn, previous recessions have produced many successful start-up companies. No matter the economic condition, great ideas, innovations, and teams can prove to be timely investment opportunities. Members of Central Illinois Angels will have the prospect of investing in local ideas, innovations, and companies in an organized and structured manner.
The Central Illinois Angels will be a major benefit to local entrepreneurs and investors as it formalizes the angel investment process. Potential deals will be screened to make sure the companies’ business plans are in order. This helps maximize the investors’ time and also creates a ‘one stop shop’ for those entrepreneurs and companies.
Having a formalized angel investment organization can bridge the financial gap for companies that have scraped together funds from friends and family but are not yet at a stage to work with venture capital firms or traditional business lenders. Entrepreneurs will go through a screening process and pitch their business to members of Central Illinois Angels. They will receive feedback from a diverse group that can help them through the startup and growth process. This will in turn help them hone their business plan and assist them with getting the funding necessary to grow their business.
